Nurture Team
Our enthusiastic group of 7 has met once. Our initial focus is to examine and improve the way we attract, greet, follow up and invite people to our congregation. We feel it is important to remind everyone - that a visitor/guest makes up his mind in the first 10 minutes of stepping onto our property if they will return or not. Greeting a visitor/guest can be as simple as "I don't believe we've met before". They are guests in our church home, and we hope everyone will make an effort to reach out to them as if they are a guest in your own home.
A schedule of orientations and New Member "acceptance" Sundays has been established. Every other month will be either the orientation or the Sunday to join. January 30th we are having our first orientation session at 8:45am. Samantha and Jeff Lowd and the Pastor will be hosting the orientation sessions.
Since each group hosts coffee hour, we also want to remind everyone that this is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to a guest and help them feel comfortable.
Visitor packets are being developed. Greeters will be on the lookout for a visitor and provide them to visitor. They will be a green folder, so if you see someone carrying a green folder in Coffee Hour, please introduce yourself! Children's packets are ready and are in place for use.
Bulletin Boards are revamped. Andy Palaia will be working on putting together the PUMC tree. He will be contacting each group for a photo to put on the tree. Please contact him if you want to put up a sign up sheet for any activity you or your group is planning, he has clipboards ready.
We are going to make name tags for greeters and ushers to wear as they perform their functions.
